Though I did get tired of hearing the slanted view of events from the British perspective, the book was an excellent review of the events from the break out of Normandy through to the allies crossing the Rhine. Market Garden was the br My interest in this book stems from my father's participation in Operation Market Garden as a soldier in the th Parachute Regiment /5. In THE RHINE CROSSINGS,the author gives a brief insight to the two main criticisms of the campaign-that Montgomery's crossing was overblown in scale and that the airborne operations were unnecessary.
